Carla was born in Southern Germany in 1964. At 21 she completed her craftsman’s certificate and, after gaining experience internationally, opened her own salon in St. Moritz in 1997. Carla has an adult son and is an avid athlete who adores the mountains; she rock climbs, loves ski and high-altitude mountain tours, jogs and road bikes.
Living in St. Moritz naturally entails visiting the neighbouring villages on occasion. Thus Carla's tips extend beyond St. Moritz alone.
my preferred spot for a morning coffee
PUR ALPS
Via Maistra 33
7500 St. Moritz
This innovative bistro-cum-deli offers local products by farmers from the neighbouring Bergell and Poschiavo valleys and uses fresh ingredients up and down the menu.
my favourite cultural institution
CAFERAMA COFFEE MUSEUM
Chesa Cafè
7524 Zuoz
A great place (not only) for coffee lovers. Located just outside of the beautiful village of Zuoz this small but fascinating museum offers a fascinating introduction into the world of coffee. You’ll learn all about coffee-production and coffee-trade and how the coffee bean found its way to the Engadin valley to be roasted in a pure alpine climate at Europe’s highest roasting facility.
End your tour at the stylish bar and enjoy an excellent cup of freshly roasted coffee or exit through the gift shop and take home a flavoursome souvenir.
here’s where I buy my books

RESTAURANT ENGIADINA
Via Dimlej 1

I come here for a variety of excellent cheese fondues and the perfectly barbecued meat.
my favourite pizza spot
RESTAURANT PISTE 21
Plazza Aviatica 27
7503 Samedan
my bar of choice
PAVAROTTI & FRIENDS
Plazza dal Mulin 3
7500 St. Moritz
no website
Here you’ll always find selected wines and great music. And if the mood is right, you’ll also be served a nice steaming plate of pasta.
an additional thing not to be missed
PIZ DA L’OVA COTSCHNA
This is, quite simply, my favourite mountain peak and one of my all time favourite spots in the world. Towering above St. Moritz at 2’716 meters above sea level, it offers magnificent views over the Engadin valley and its lakes as well as of the opposite peaks like Piz Julier, Piz Ot, or Piz Kesch.
I make sure to visit this mystical place at least once a year and it takes my breath away time and again.
