Born in Ukraine, lived in Hong Kong for a while and now living in London, UK. Who knows where I will end up?
Used to work in marketing for big fat companies, changed sides at the age of 30 and worked as a producer for several years. Ended up with a small company that I own with my partner and ex-colleague from Ukraine and I love my flexible hours and ability to choose the projects I work on.
my preferred spot for a morning coffee
If I’m in West End I would always go for a coffee to Espresso Bar Mozzino (74 Broadwick St, Soho, London, W1F 9QZ). It’s a tiny spot in the very centre of Soho but they alway have amazing coffee and super nice staff.
If I’m in for a breakfast I would go to eat the best shakshuka at Nopi (21-22 Warwick St, Soho, London, W1B 5NE). One of my favourite places to eat at any time of the day, but I love their breakfasts.
my favourite cultural institution
ROYAL ACADEMY OF ARTS
London, W1J 0BD
Always the best work selections. We have membership there which is very handy as you don’t need to wait in line to get to see the show and they also have previews for friends of the Academy which lets you see the exhibition firsthand. It is also really easy to get to and they have a good canteen!
here’s where I buy my books
Waterstones obviously (203-206 Piccadilly, London, W1V 9LE). I think that’s where most Londoners buy their books. I love wandering around the shop when I have time.
Maison Assouline (196A Piccadilly, London, W1J 9EY) is also worth a visit as it’s a beautiful building full of fantastic books. They also pour you a glass of bubbly sometimes!
an additional local shop I support
We live in South London and Brixton Market is nearby. They have a great shop there which is full of stuff for house and kitchen and all other little bits and pieces and we always buy something from them when we’re nearby. They also have two beautiful and very friendly cats.
this is where I go for a simple dinner with friends
26-27 Dean St, Soho
London, W1D 3LL
They have several restaurants but the one in Soho is my favourite. It was love at first sight and I have been in love with this place for twelve years now. It will always be my best choice to eat. The best tapas in the world.
here I dine when there’s something to celebrate
20 Mount St, Mayfair
London, W1K 2HE
Old British institution with the best service and great fish/seafood menu. It is also very beautiful.
my favourite pizza spot
Pizza East. They have several places all over London so choose the one that is closest to you. We would usually go to the one in Kentish Town (79 Highgate Rd, London, NW5 1TL). Non-pizza dishes are also a delight.
my bar of choice
When I don’t think about the choice, I would usually just go to Hamyard Hotel (1 Ham Yard, Soho, London, W1D 7DT). It’s just a nice place to hang around and it is very conveniently located. The crowd is also ok.
If I want a good cocktail, I would probably do ECC Chinatown (13a Gerrard St, London, W1D 5PS). I love the cosy atmosphere and exceptionally tasty drinks.
If I want loud and crowded, I would go to Soho Hotel (4 Richmond Mews, Soho, London, W1D 3DH). Always fun...
additional things not to be missed
If you love cinema as I do, you should go to Picturehouse Central (Corner of Shaftesbury Avenue and Great Windmill Street, Piccadilly, London, W1D 7DH). It’s an independent cinema with a great movie selection and the building is fantastic.
